Fursuit Resources and supplies I use!

I get asked many many many times where do I get Fursuit supplies from, so here is the list of places I get my resources from!

Keep in mind I am in Australia and buy most of my supplies online :)

Firstly you will need a fursuit base to get started!

3D printed bases -

3D Printed bases - Avalible on my website, and etsy

3D Printed base files - If you have a 3D printer you can pop onto cults3D, Etsy and thingiverse to find your files to print!

Filament - Don't use pla. It deforms easily under heat, espically in our Aussie sun - opt for TPU, or PETG for hard wearing and a very nice sturdy base that won't melt / deform!

Foam Bases -

You will need medium / high density uphulustry foam, the more dense it is the less squishy!

Foam  - Clark Rubber

search for 2.5cm (1" inch thick) This is the most used one, I have a 5cm foam roll I brought and I simply cut all my parts in half to have a thickness of 2.5cm :)

Next you will need to assemble your base / foam bucket head

You will need dubious amounts of hot glue and a glue gun

Dewalt ceramic hot glue gun + Stanley 1kg hot glue sticks

Both are found at Bunnings

While at bunnings you are going to want to stop at the plant section to "rescue" a plant.

Next up is the tape, this is used to create your sewing pattern, duct tape is great (painters tape)

Also pick up a set of "hobby knives" to help cut the tape off the base

Bunnings - Paint Partner PVC Duct tape & hobby knife

Making your pattern

Grab a pair of scissors you hate they will be forever known as sticky tape scissors and get to the work on taping the head, when you are ready to mark your patterns grab out your sharpie's or whiteboard markers and have fun!

Faux Fur

I use Mofu Mofu - China based

Big Z & Howl - USA based

Fur addiction - Australia

 Before cutting / shaving fur

You MUST wear a respirator- breathing in tiny fur particles isn't a joke, it's a very dangerous thing to do, respirator's with 3M on them are perfect, bunnings also sell these - replace them often!

Cutting fur

Do not chop into your beloved fur like crazy! Put down the scissors and grab your brand new hobby knife, your will slash the backing with gentle but firm strokes and leave all the lovely long fur untouched and have a perfect cut!

Shaving Fur

Clippers -

Bunnings - Pet hair clippers (generic brand)

Sminiker pet hair clippers - Amazon

I have used and still have both of mine from these places and they work great!

Threads

For hand sewing I highly recommend Gutermann extra strong thread 100m spool - spotlight

Thread conditioner & longer needles will save your hands from being cut open!

Sewing Machine

I'm always asked about my sewing machine.

Valentino (hazbin hotel name of course)

My machine is a Bernina B770  QE + and it is a fully computerised machine with an embroidery unit.

My machine runs through fur with ease, there is no challenge here!

A great quality machine will be expensive. This is because they literally have a motor and the higher the quality the machine the better the motor and it can handle heavy duty sewing / weighty materials with ease!
